On the 1st of August I was invited to speak at a conference in Jhb. The Conference organisers paid for my air ticket from CPT - Jhb return using Avios points. My return flight was booked for 7.50 pm . the Conference however finished early, I arrived at the airport at 3.15 and asked if I could get on an earlier flight. Despite there being seats available, I was told that only the person who had redeemed the points could change the flight. At this point the conference organiser were not available to do that, my only recourse would have been to purchase a new ticket!!!
I refused to do that and sat at the airport for 4 hours. Surely if the ticket was in my name, I should have the ability to change the ticket as it is my name on the ticket
If there were no seats available I could understand but there were seats.
It is a ridiculous policy, needless to say I will not be choosing to fly BA Comair if I can help it.
