South African Police Service
Are polices paid to do nothing or help the public?

On 18/09/2013, our car Seat Leon NJ63865 was from Umgeni Road, Durban. The only response we got from them was 2 messages with the case number & that the details were circulated. On 19 September 2013, I (Miss S Naicker) called Durban Central SAPS & spoke to an officer. I was told that Constable Thembe was assigned to my case but was not available. When I spoke to Constable Thembe, he told me that he was not assigned to the case but a Constable LB Mthethwa. This is what really irritated me as we were really desperate to find out if there was any sign of our vehicle. Today, 23 September 2013, 5 days later, Constable LT Mthethwa did not have the decency to make a courtesy. Should we even call her a police? Polices were supposed to be helping the public not getting paid for roaming around carefree while others are in need for their so called "service". For all I know the car must have passed any police on the road, but they were too relaxed to even check if the description matches any missing vehicle. Utterly disgusted with the way the law handles any crime now days.
