This afternoon I'd gone to the Joburg city (Thuso House) offices accompanying my grandmother to apply for her Pensioners rebates. I was reffered to another branch and that I was okay with. I was also advised that I need a copy of my grandmother's current rates account bill and was told by the reception to ask for that bill from counter no.23. Only to find 3 colleagues, 1 seated behind the counter, 1 on the table and the last swinging on the chair. My grandmother and I were the only people in line. At first we were patient at took available seats, then we resorted to standing for visibility. I then decided to greet the two ladies after the one male had left and was surprised because their responses were nothing verbal, I just got two dirty looks and they proceeded with their chatting. I kept quiet with disbelief and tried to assess the situation and not act on impulse. After a few seconds of thought I decided to confront both ladies. FORTUNATE the person behind the counter told me "I can't expect her to drop everything for us, etc" I am not happy with the service especially since I was accompanying an elderly person and I am certain that she was wasting the publics time on nothing futile.
