I recently left the company I worked for for 3 years and was about to get my pension fund and was told that SARS had an IT88 order against me and they must pay SARS first. what annoys me is the order was issued for the return of 2004 of which SARS captured my info (IRP5) twice on their system instead of once leading to it billing me a lot of money (R72.000) I have went to SARS offices several times and the people there agrees that it's SARS fault but they cannot change it as it's more than 3 years old and have been sent from pillar to post since then with no one taking responsibility and fix the problem. Recently spoke to a guy called Ian who just sent me a sars policy with even attempting to fix the problem. my worry is if SARS can go back 3 years back to claim for tax why can't they go back to fix their errors as then all of us we'll be happy. I don't have than money and need my pension fund. SARS need to cancel the order and do a evaluation or rectify their errors instead of shifting the blame. IF they can go back to as far as 2004 to collect the taxes why then they can't go back to fix those error cause surely they knew they would have to deal with problems like this.
