I contacted Gerrie at All Appliance Services (AAS) on 16 Apr 2013 to repair my Defy fridge. He indicated a R220 service call for inspection/fault location whereafter they provide a quotation for repair. If you accept the repair quotation the service call is not applicable. Gerrie sent a technician that indicated a problem with the defrost heating element, overload protector and fridge condenser unit. Gerrie quoted me a price of R1915.00 to replace the above, and I agreed. The technician replaced the defrost heating element & overload protector (a simple task) but not the fridge condenser. I then questioned the high cost as the fridge condenser was not replaced. I then phoned 2 more suppliers to obtain prices for the above replaced parts. Their quotes were only R290 and R224 for the parts. I phoned Gerrie to request a more fair quotation. He refused and indicated that if I do not accept the quote, I must pay a minimum of R695 to cancell the job. I indicated to him that he is unfair and that I will report his poor business ethics and paid the technician the R695. Another contractor then performed the complete job with parts for R520! It is R175 less than AAS cost for no repair done!!
