Stolze Pianos
Ridiculous markup on second hand piano

I wanted to buy a second hand Ibach piano from Mr. Stolze for R37 000. He gave me a discount and agreed to take in my piano as a trade-in. When I searched online for Ibach pianos, I came across an OLX ad for the same piano that went up three days before, being sold at R14500. I contacted the seller and she told me she had her piano valued at R14 500 by Mr. Stolze, who tuned it for her and offered to help her sell it if he could add a 10-20% mark-up on the valued price. She was furious when I told her he was charging R37 000 for her piano, and she said she was going to take it back from him immediately because he had to her.

Mr. Stolze added a markup of over 150% on that piano for merely tuning it and having it sit in his home until someone came along top buy it. No additional restoration was done on this piano! I would have paid double the price for this piano had I not done my online research. I am very angry at his dishonesty and greed.

Mr. Stolze's pianos are overpriced (even lower quality pianos were above R30k) and he reaps a fat profit from them. His piano tuning service may be reliable, but be wary in buying his pianos!
