I walked in for an eye test and to get new glasses, I was told they work with Bonitas and were happy to help me. I explained that O had savings available and would not be able to spend anything out of my own pocket, that they needed to call my medical aid before we went ahead as I was nervous about how much I could spend.
I was told that there was money available and was taken for the eye exam, and shown options on the frames I could get, I was told to get separate sunglasses rather than transition glasses which I had already. I asked twice whether these frames would be covered by my savings with Bonitas and both times the answer was yes.
I was happy and left, after a few days I was told I could go in and get my glasses, on arriving I was informed that there was an outstanding amount of R5000!
I took the glasses and left the sunglasses, saying that either my medical aid needs to pay or they can keep the glasses as I was clear that I would not pay that money when I first arrived.
EVERY month since I have had messages about owing and urgently needing to pay the outstanding amount.
I feel harassed and angry.
I have managed now to save in order to get these people off my back but feel that this is not right and something needs to be done.
I will be getting my file from them and will be calling my medical aid to find out what was said in that phone call because I was conned and lied to.
