Poor communication on updates

I purchased a TomTom device due to the large text on the box offering lifetime updates. They do not make it clear that you have to register within 3 months in order to receive these updates. I only update occasionally, so by the time I went to update maps the period had already expired. They should make this much clearer on the packaging!
