Disgraceful service

I bought matching russell hobbs touch screen toaster and kettle worth at R1299 each used it at most 10 times each only for both these items to pack up.i took the kettle 1st to the store I purchased it at (Hirsch umhlanga) only to be told by the rude lady that it was out of the guarantee, which I assumed was 2 years and not 1year that its best that I buy a new kettle as it cost more to repair.
I then tried several times to email Russell hobbs head office on the email address provided on their website and not of the emails got responded to. Finally I called the Johannesburg number on the website and was given the run around again.
Is there no 1 who can give me a solid straight forward answer as to what I can do with these 2 pieces of junk that is now only used as display purpose in my home.it just looks nice but as with most Russell hobbs products it is just sheer rubbish.i will never support this brand again
ps I am now using a kettle that I paid R80 and a four slice toaster that I paid R169 for.
