Delivery take too long

I ordered a few things from the USA and think the parsel is less than 1kg. My parsel landed in the country on the 2nd of July and scaned in by customs on the 4th of July. Then it went into trasit and from there back to customs and back into transit a day or 2 later. Now I see its laying in transit at capemail hub. Now this is the first I order things from overseas and I have put a jhb address as a delivery address. To my understanding this capemail hub is somewhere in the cape province. So why is my parcel sent so far away when it was supposed to be delivered on jhb? Also, is this not a risk to send the package on a long journey as the delivery address is just only about 30km`s away? My tracking number is RI270185939. This is a big concern to me as the package should have been delivered to me already.
