I took out a temp loan from FNB and then forgot about it & stopped using said account. Long story short I was contacted by Groenewald Lubbe Inc as FNB had handed the account over to them for payment to be made.
I had no issue with this & arranged for the necessary monthly payments. I was told that I would be charged for correspondence & I then told the gentleman not to sms, email or call me unless it is urgent.
Time went on and I sms'd them to confirm that I would prefer payments being made by debit order - this was done.
I then noticed that the outstanding amount was not decreasing (as per FNB) - after much investigation it came to light that Groenewald Lubbe Inc was not updating my account/paying the money over to FNB on time. This was corrected only AFTER I went into FNB.
I requested a statement of the account earlier this week and see that I get charged as follows (this is all added to my total balance due):
- R5 per sms
- R20 - R25 per phone call/email
- R20 collection commission to the agent, monthly
- Taking Instruction Fee of R285 (what is this?)
- Closing Fee of R100
- Final collection commission of R306.08
- Legal Fee R1416
