I am one of the 46.9% of South Africans who are over-indebted. I want to change this. I also want to change the way that creditors hunt and track debtors like criminals by discussing openly what is happening to me.
I am currently being hounded by Telkom through their attorneys. Firstly it was Marais Muller Yekiso now it is Hugo & Ngwenya attorneys. I have over time managed to pay what I believe I owed on my account up to and including February 2010. I left South Africa and the house I was renting at the time.
The attorneys claim that I still owe an amount of approximately R800. This was incurred in March 2010, when I was in Berlin. When I asked for details of the account, including the numbers dialled etc, I was told to go to the local Telkom office. I have also been asked to provide proof that I terminated the contract at the end of February, because as far they are concerned the contract ended in June. I have asked for proof of this June contract, I have not received it.
I have now received an sms that they are taken further legal action.
Regards,
Jocelyn
