My company recommended discovery and I joined two months ago. I was very excited to be joining such a reputable medical aid.
I have just received a phone call from Discovery saying that they are terminating my medical aid effective on 15 May 2013 as I "" on my contract. This supposable is because my wife had a small growth on her leg and it was removed in the last month and that we should have disclosed that she had a hardened piece of skin on her leg when we joined - must we count our freckles too?
Anyway if that is not bad enough - the manner in which they handled the situation is terrible as they made my wife feel like a criminal and after the phone call she was in tears. The woman who called her (whose name I have mentioned above) was completely unprofessional and had no people skills whatsoever.
I am appalled by the way this company handled this situation especially when their business is one of such a personal nature. I am currently trying to resolve this issue.
If Discovery would like to resolve these kinds of issues why not send each potential new member for a full medical before providing them with medical aid!!!
