My wife went into labour 2 weeks before her due date. Her wish was to go Natural so she was given an Epidural by the only anaesthesiologist available at that time at Sandton mediclinic. A few hours later the baby was in distress and they had to do an emergency C-Section. She was then given a Spinal Block so they could perform the procedure.
The Anaesthesiologist sent me 2 accounts, one for each procedure. The accounts were R7146 each. Discovery only paid R4111.60 of the one account and the other account was ignored for some reason.
We had our authorisation number a good few months before the procedure so I don't see why these accounts were not paid in full. We did not choose this Anaesthesiologist as he was the only one that the gynaecologist could get at the time. The account I received did say that this was a Prescribed minimum benefit and must be paid in full.
I pay Discovery R4000 a month, I don't expect to pay for authorised procedures as well. Please help.
