Discovery Vitality Gym membership cancelled

Vitality have decided that everyone must now go to gym 36 times a year. I didn't receive the email that states I should make sure I have been 26 times by the end of March 2013. I then get an email that states I have been hoofed from the gym but I am more than welcome to sign up again.
I had been 25 times - according to the new rules I am 1 short - according to the rules I signed up with I am 1 visit in advance.
I phone the call centre and I am told tough luck the email was sent so "sorry for you", not an ounce of understanding.
I know I should be healthy but surely this should also be fun. It feels like you sign up and then they wait for you to stuff up to get rid of you and get you to sign up again. Whose's the fool?
Is Vitality short of cash? Have they decided to their members?
If this is how they want to treat me, then I feel that I should look for a new insurance provider.
Surely one of the options could be to make all new members attend 36 times and leave their old supporters alone. I have more to do in the day than go to gym. We all have lives that are hectic - surely we sign up for Vitality because this is a fun benefit not a stick to be hit with.
