Delayed repayment of hold on my cheque card

I checked in to the Radisson hotel, last Thursday 04 April and stayed until 7 April. Upon checking in, and upon enquiring, I opted to pay the R1500 hold for incidentals on my cheque card as I was only in town for work purposes on the Friday. I asked when checking in how long the refund would take and was informed four working days. There were no incidentals on my account (even asked that they remove the minibar) as I had no need for it.

I called the Radisson this morning to ask why there was a holdup in repayment of my monies, and am now being told the reversal takes 7 - 14 working days. What sense does this make? Unlike with a credit card payment, the cheque card is debited immediately and it is unconscionable that they want my money to earn them interest for an additional 14 days when I could put it to use.
