I used my cheque card at the end of October 2013 at a reputable hotel in Seoul, South Korea as guarantee. The gaurantee was reversed by the hotel but FNB is holding the guarantee amount - despite the reversal (for which I have proof and the amount being paid from another card I have with FNB) until 26 February 2014 - unless I get a letter from the Hotel saying that the transaction is cancelled.
I spoke to the most inept call staff agent, his supervisor, and the supervisor's supervisor (or so I was told)... they cannot send me an email/letter which I can then forward to the hotel. (Remember: this is their own silly internal requirement). The manager of the call centre team is not in the office - off playing golf somewhere I guess, and they dont even know who the CEO of FNB is. No need to say, neither writing nor customer service skills aren't a requirement for employment at FNB!
The email I wrote to the hotel sounds like I am trying to the Hotel. Sorry to say this, I have proof of the reversal of the transaction, so in my eyes FNB is deliberately scamming me... ;-) but I caught you!
