FNB convinced me to buy a petrol card that was linked to my FNB Cheque account for an additional R13 p.m. My Cheque account is eBucks-earning and my assumption was that a petrol card linked to my eBucks-earning Cheque account would also earn eBucks on fuel (especially since FNB marketing harped on about earning eBucks on fuel). After a few months, I realised that I was not receiving any eBucks on the fuel purchases that I had made with the petrol card. I was using this card religiously because it is specifically for fuel - it must be optimised for fuel purchases... right? Wrong!
I phoned eBucks and asked about this and they said you only earn eBucks for fuel when you swipe your CHEQUE card; CREDIT card; or petrol card linked to your CREDIT card account. If you swipe a Cheque account-linked petrol card, you don't earn any eBucks. This is the most convoluted rule that I have ever come across and was NOT stipulated when I bought the card. I have spent thousands of Rands on fuel with an FNB card that used funds taken from my eBucks-earning Cheque account and have earned no eBucks.
The ONLY purpose that this card has served is to deny me rewards. It is worthless. DO NOT get one!
