On the 14th of April my wife and myself went to Specsavers as the Checkers Hyper in Brackenfell for an eye test and both needed reading glasses. We received a statement from our Discovery medical Aid that they paid the amount of R 2186 per person. There was a code on the statement (880) - You have used a network optometrist and you are not liable for the difference. On the 17th of April my wife and myself receiced an sms from Discovery stating that we saved R 459 by using a network provider and that they paid the claim in full. When I went to pick up the glasses I was asked to pay in R 416 before I can take the glasses.
I queried it a few days later and was told the discount has already been taken of and that the amount owing was the R416.
I cannot understand why I had to pay the extra amount, even with the medical aid stating they had paid the full amount. I was not given an account by the lady showing why the extra amount was charged.
We are currently three people using Specsavers, but will not be going back again.
