Discovery Health
Unbelievably stupid

One would think that for the R3877.00 I pay Discovery every month for my "Classic Priority" plan, they would pay R100-odd for my cholesterol medication?

They don't.

I spoke with Lucien, Guy Bierman and 2 others at the Discovery chronic benefit call center division today.

In January 2013 I applied for a chronic benefit after going for a vitality check & blood tests - and being told that I have high cholesterol.

Discovery declined my request because I did not include the initial lab report. I only included a lab report after I was already on the medication for one month (& cholesterol levels were still high)

None of the agents or supervisors I spoke with understood that if one has high cholesterol (even after taking medication for one month) then obviously one needs to remain on the medication, possibly even consider increasing the dosage.

My chronic benefit application date was January 2013.
The blood tests were dated January 2013.
All's good, or is it?

Sadly not. Discovery declined my application in an email saying my application (does not meet the minimum requirement) - they did not say what the requirement is.

Go figure.
Looks like I'll cancel and go somewhere else.
