3 weeks ago i went for an operation through an ENT specialist because my nasal passages were blocked. The specialist recommended that i must be on chronic and prescribed me on some medication (only two different medication) that i have to take for six months so i can fully recover from the operation and the blockage on my nose.
When i apply for this chronic benefit:
1. An iterm that cost only R185 was approved but the medical aid only approve to pay R75 which is not even half of the cost price for this medication.
2. Another medication was total declined with with explanation (We do not fund this iterm for this condition from the chronic illness benefit)
This i do not understand because i'm sure the doctor recommended this for a reason and i pay my premiums every month, this is the first time i'm being hospitalised in 4 years i've been with Discovery and medication that will cost less than R240 monthly for six months is not approved?? According to me as a client, my health should be a priority on my medical aid service provider (Discovery) but i don't feel like they care if i recover or not but i must still pay every month.
