Why do we have to fight

Last year we decided to move from our medical aid to Medihelp for better advantages. Now that we have to use it for a procedure in hospital we have to fight to get pre-authorisation. Upon application now mention was made that in the event of hospitalisation during your first year they have to do a history check on you which according to them takes up to 72 hours. What is the use of completing the application form and answer all the questions regarding your health? What happens if you have a heart attack, will you have to wait for the medical aid to decide if they will authorise hospitalisation? That could cost you your life.
Friday 1 March 2013 we requested pre-authorisation for hospitalition, today is already 72 hours later and still have no authorisaton number. According to them they are waiting for our GP to complete a form and send it back, but I phoned him and was told that a Ronnie phoned this morning, 5 March 2013, and was suppose to send the form to our doctor, but our doctor still haven't received the form.
