I was admitted to Cape Town MediClinic on 8 August, had an operation and was discharged on 10 August with a pre-authorisation code from Discovery Health as received on 7 August.
I now need to have another procedure on 27 August and after a week of struggling to get authorisation I discovered that my hospital stay from 8 - 10 August's approval was retracted without my knowledge, thus leaving the current procedure's approval pending too. Apparently a PMA form was sent to my doctor, without my knowledge. Said PMA form was sent from the doctor's offices on 15 August, but according to your service advisors was only received by Discovery YESTERDAY, 21 August. Another PMA form needs to be filled in by the operating doctor for the 27th too, apparently.
I reside in Gauteng. Unfortunately my specialists are in Cape Town. I have already booked flights and accommodation for my up and coming hospitalisation. Is Discovery going to pay me back for all of that too??
I find this service from Discovery very poor, disheartening and pathetic.
As someone who needs medical service and expects quality service delivery from my medical aid, Discovery has disappointed me immensely.
