Bonitas
Not paying for EMERGENCY casualty visit

I was a member of the Bonitas Boncap Primcure Medical Aid last year.

I was rushed to hospital on 22 October 2012 because of severe pain, vomiting and passing out of blood in urine. I had to be taken with a wheel chair into causality. I was diagnosed with a kidney stone and admitted at the Netcare Unitas hospital from 22/10/2012-24/10/2012.

I have received a bill on 2 January 2013 stating that I have to pay R511.99.
The bill specifies that I have to pay for "WARD DRUGS" "OTHER NON-DRUGS CHARGES-WRD".
I was given this bill by Netcare which was rejected by Bonitas Primecure.

I only got through to a consultant on Primecure after 5 continuous attempts, eventually holding on for about 50 minutes on the phone before going through. This is ridiculously long.

I was put through to MHS (Auditing) and I was told that I needed to make an authorization before going into casualty or the first working day thereafter. I did not know of such a rule and that I was required to do this neither did any of the people who helped when I was rushed to hospital. It was an EMERGENCY.
