My son was born on the 27th of May last year. His birth was registered and birth certificate was obtained; he was registered on my medical aid, and the hospital's account was submitted to Bonitas, all within the required time frame for his hospital costs to be covered.
I discovered in January that, although my hospital account was paid, his hospital costs had been unpaid, following which I immediately went to the hospital to query with their accounts department in person. The lady that I dealt with phoned Bonitas while I was sitting with her, and spoke to Anwar. He admitted that there had been an error on the part of Bonitas, and requested that the bill be resubmitted - which was also done in my presence. Upon calling the hospital today (15th March - 9 months after original submission of the account) I was told that this bill is still unpaid. The hospital has supplied me with the Bonitas reference number 220213QRT1J6.
I am extremely unimpressed; this is not the first time I have experienced administrative issues with Bonitas. After my second child is born, I intend changing to another, more professional and efficient, medical aid.
