On phoning Discovery Health to query an hospital account, there was a lot of noise in the background - which is understandable as it is a Call Centre. But the noise I was hearing was a tv! I asked the agent if she was watching tv - she replied - "is it too loud, I will turn it down" She had a tv on her desk!
I spoke now to a Call Centre Supervisor, who said that it is a call centre, they have tvs on the walls around the centre. I stated that this person had one on her desk (a WALKA/DRIFTER) maybe? The supervisor didn't seem too bothered arguing that it was most likely the one on the wall. The funny thing was - when I questioned the agent in the beginning, she didn't say it was the tvs on the walls!
I have managed a Call Centre - and never would I allow the the agents to have tvs on the desk whilst dealing with customers!!!
