Suspension of Medical Aid

I visited the doctor and pharmacy on 5th Feb to discover my medical aid was suspended. This is the 2nd time in 6 months they have done this. 1st time was because they had not allocated my payment correctly. This time they are telling me that I made a shortpayment in 2009 of R204. I am not prepared to just hand this over until they send me details of which month it applies to. I need to check my bank statements.
My real complaint and issue with all of this is that on both of these occasions they have just suspended my cover without informing me. Only by visiting the doctor have I been alerted and fortunately on neither occasion was it an emergency. What would happen if I was in an accident and unconcious? In this country it is critical to have cover for situations such as these and I cannot trust Discovery to ensure that this happens
I know their problem with me is that I will not allow them to use a debit order to collect my premiums. Reason being I freelance for a living and am not prepared to incur charges for unfulfilled debit orders, however, I have always paid on time and send a faxed proof of payment
