Hospital vs Medical Aid

My husband had to go into Hospital on short notice for a day-procedure. I went through all the steps to get the necessary authorizations and information from Discovery to be told that not all will be paid from the Hospital plan, but the R3, 100 will be paid from my Medical Saving Account. I asked if I need to pay anything at the hospital, and the person assured me that it would not be necessary. While at admission at Netcare Unitas, we were advised that we had to pay the R3, 100.00 out of our own pocket immediately. Had to quickly make a plan, which is very difficult at month's end. We paid. Unnecessary to say that I was not happy because of the poor communication between medical aid & hospital. This morning I send the paperwork as received from the hospital to the medical aid in order to get it paid back to me as soon as possible. Just received a message that it can't be processed as they need the claim forms for the Hospital. They are all aware of the processes that needs to be followed to claim, but yet they don't bother to make sure you are informed. You have to battle around every corner. Enough is enough. Time for a new medical aid!
