My father went to see dr Niven Singh late last year regarding an ear condition called tinnitus. The doctor asked for payment of R500 to R600 upfront prior to the consultation. The consultation lasted approx 5 minutes whereby the doctor rushed through the consultation without asking for the symptoms my dad was experiencing or what chronic medication he was on. He simply said there was no cure!
My father was angry and disappointed with the money spent just to be rushed through an appointment.
He noticed that the other patients in the waiting room were also given on average 5 to 10 minutes each with the doctor. The patients were also double booked.
Is this how our doctors behave these days? Just a money making scheme with no responsibility and care towards the patient?
