Unwillingness of hospital staff to assist patients

During admission on 26/11/2013 no staff was to be found at the reception desk. After waiting 10 minutes, we consulted a lady working at the pre-admission station, whom was disrespectful and only advised us to sit down and wait. When we finally found someone to help with the admission, the system wrongly specified the doctor whom was doing my operation and that needed to be resolved before admission could be completed.

The following morning, 27/11/2013, a nurse in Ward 9 came to me at 5:30 to replace the bag of antibiotics, After completion I was instructed by the nurse not to take my eyes of the bag, as I needed to close the valve as soon as the bag ran empty, to prevent air from entering my veins. I, having had major surgery, struggled to keep my eyes open and awoke with shock and fear to find the bag empty.

The other female patient whom shared the room with me, had several of her own complaints the following morning. The only response from the matron was that the night sister had also complained about the night staff.

I have been in other Netcare Private Hospitals and I have never experienced this level of unwillingness to help patients!
