My wife went in for an ankle operation on Friday 05 July 2013, she did the pre-admission on Wednesday and was informed to be there at 6am, so we arrived at 5:45am filled in the remainder of the forms, was informed to go to section 5, whereby we were then informed that there were no beds available in the normal wards so she got to go to a private ward at no additional cost. At first it was like wow okay, but there were numerous issues with the private ward, the TV remote didn't work correctly, the bath needed to be cleaned, the walls needed painting, I've seen government hospitals with better maintained wards.
Eventually at 11:45am the doctor came through and took my wife in for the op, which was the last time we saw the doctor at all. Next the level of service and attention from the nurses was nil, we pushed the button and it just rang on Saturday, we had to wait forever for discharge on Saturday, we are still waiting for the physio.
