Netcare
Charging for the day of discharge

When my wife was admitted to the maternity ward I enquired at the reception desk about private and semi-private wards. I was told that a semi-private ward costs R900 PER NIGHT. They asked that I pay it up front which I did, the bill was R2700 for 3 nights. My wife was there for 3 nights and discharged on the morning of the 4th day.

When we received the invoice R900 was still outstanding. On further enquiry we were told that this R900 is for the 4th day. This is not what we were told. My wife was discharged before 10am and now we have to pay for a full day?

I called Olivedale reception again enquiring about the costs for private wards and once again I was told that the charge is per night. Only after then mentioning that this is what I thought and that I've been incorrectly billed, did the lady suddenly change her story and said that it was in fact per day.

I called Netcare Customer Service and after holding for 37 minutes without anyone answering, I dropped the call.

Apart from the terrible service on the Customer Service line, my issue is with the incorrect information given to patients before admission and the "oh sorry about that now pay up" attitude afterwards.
