I joined Discovery effective from 1st November 2013. I selected to have the debit order date as the 10th of the month. Their application form states that the first months membership will be deducted on the first and thereafter on the date you choose. The first of November came and no amount was taken from my account. Then on the 11th, a double debit was taken. According to them to cover November and in advance for December. I am extremely annoyed as this was at no point explained to me that they would double debit me for November. I would understand a prorata debit for an extra 10 of 31 days so I was covered from 1 November to 10 December but a double debit in my opinion is. I was informed by Samantha (who was otherwise helpful) at the call centre that it is not possible for them to do a prorata billing. Why not?! Everyone else in the world is capable of this. Your premium is for one month, therefore you can prorate that premium to a daily expense. 12 days in and I am already going to be looking for another health plan else where.
