Upon arrival we were advised that the pontoon ride was cancelled. After checking in we were told that Hedwigs was closed. Nobody called to advise us. We were advised to eat dinner at the hotel restaurant which was old, dark, had no windows. We went to look at Hedwigs. It was falling apart, literally! The wooden beams were loose and broken, the light fittings were hanging and some down lighters were missing, it was dirty, the tables were warped. The outdoor swimming pool was green with leaves floating on top. The indoor swimming pool was cold and had stuff floating on top that looked like someone had snorted up their phlegm and spat it all over the pool. The table tennis table was in the squash court, which was old and dilapidated. The corridor and our room reeked of smoke. It looked like the furniture, just like the rest of the hotel, had not been updated since 1981. The bed spread had a large cigarette burn, the sheets were dirty, pillows were flat and lumpy. The shower curtain was riddled with mould. we conveyed our disappointment to the manager on duty. He did not take any responsibility, offer any solution or show any concern, he became rather arrogant and rude.
