I am a member of Discovery Health Comprehensive scheme. They don't want to place my insulin onto the chronic benefit. I have tried several times for them to do that, but they wouldn't' even consider it, they just reject the application. According to section 8 of the Chronic Illness Benefit Application, my doctor justify the insulin and that I am only responding to Victoza (insulin), but still Discovery reject everything.
I was not told that diabetic are not covered when I became a member of the medical scheme, only now when I need them they don't want to put me on the chronic list. It cost me over a thousand rand per month for my insulin.
According to the government gazette all medical schemes are suppose to treat diabetic as a chronic illness.
Looks like an onbudsmans compliant is the only way to sort this out.
Discovery Health is definitely not reliable, but very greedy to take one 's monthly payment!!!
Please help me with this situation.
