I took blood today at Wilgers Hospital - Ampath / Du Buisson... I had my blood request form filled in by my doctor... so no worries there.
Unfortunatley what these personelle did not know is that I myself work in the medical field and with labs every day.
The reception staff ignored me and continued talking to one another about directions to a place- rude and unprofessional.
They could not make out what bloods I was coming in for - uneducated.
The nurse that eventually took my blood had a cold, she did not wear a mask, to prevent cross infection, and common curtousy, sniffing away in my ears.
Neither did she wear gloves, this is disguisting, her hands are not sterile and can give incorrect values to an infection count test being done (if I were haveing one done)... in any case - gross! I'm sure that is not your protocol.
The worst was they did NO pre-counselling for my HIV test, which I had tested for! Is this not illegal? Surely I can hold you responsible for trauma, say my results were positive?!
I work with hundreds of renal patients, I will advise them rather to use Lancet!
