On the 5th of August 2012, we were visiting Zebula lodge and entertained ourselves by doing a game drive on Quad Bikes. My daughter met with an accident where the bike landed on her left side damaging her pelvis and breaking her left arm where the bone protruded. The first aiders on site were great! in keeping her calm and seeing us through till the ambulance arrived.
the accident took place around noon and my daughters first op was at 11pm the very same night at Eugene Marais Hosp. The doctor did warn us that there was only about a 40% chance that he could save the arm. 3 operations later over an 8month period, my daughter still does not have the full function of her arm, the main nerve was severed badly.
the memories of this day and the trauma thereafter came flooding back when the 5th of August this year arrived and i thought how sad that Zebula management/customer care, had not made a single call to us to find out what transpired after the ambulance left their property. Yes, we all sign indemnities when we entertain extreme sports but this should not stop the lodge from caring about it guests. After all it happened with their quad bike, their ranger and on their premises!
