I paid a deposit of R5775 through SafariNow on 15 March for accommodation for 2-9 December in Seaside Cottage, KZN. In June I enquired about cancelling the booking. The response was that Seaside Cottage's policy was they require a non-refundable 50% deposit to secure the booking but they would consider looking at a refund if given a valid reason for cancelling and they can re-let the unit. Based on this information i cancelled my booking as 2 people I booked for were no longer going and since there were only 2 boys left we had decided to cancel the trip to Durban. Seaside Cottage decided not to refund the deposit because I did not give a valid reason. I think I gave a valid reason and I advised them of the cancellation at least 5 months before the date of arrival plus it is peak season. SafariNow and/or Seaside Cottage have been unjustifiably enriched. When people complain about crime in SA they don't take into account businesses like these that are unjustifiably enriched at the expense of hardworking people in this country who want to support the local tourism industry.
