I travel regularly to Zambia and asked Discovery a month in advance about travel medical insurance which they informed me that I have R5 Million international medical insurance. While I was in Zambia I was busy getting a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. I was treated the night and discharged the following morning to catch a flight back to SA to see my doctor there, and asked them for an invoice because I had to pay them in cash as they do not accept any foreign medical aids. I submitted the claim to discovery to get a refund as they have informed me I have a R5 Million international medical insurance. When I first submitted my claim I was told I have to have a receipt on the invoice or a bank statement showing the transaction. I do not have a receipt only the invoice showing I've paid and submitted my personal bank statements which till date (now 5 months) have not receive any refund or feedback. Each consultant resubmits my form and never contact me back or cancel the request. Ever time I follow up with them they keep on persisting on a receipt, sorry that I did not think of that while I was fighting for my life! What more proof do they want then a bank statement!
