VITALITY CANCEL GYM MEMBER ALTHOUGH CLIENT INJURED

I would like to report the money making racquet by Discovery Vitality which cancels your gym membership unreasonably. Discovery Vitality will cancel your gym membership if you do not attend the gym 32 times a year. I attended the Virgin Active gym 27 times but was plagued with a knee injury over a period of time. It resulted in an operation where 20 percent of my knee cap had to be removed. I spent time in ICU due to complications from the operation. Although, they have all the medical reports they will not allow me an extension on my membership due to injury. I accept that there are rules regarding gym attendance when membership is through Vitality, but given that I had a knee operation it is logical to accept that if I had a problem serious enough to require surgery I was incapacitated for months before the operation as well. So having missed gym for most of the 6 months prior to my operation and the 2 months afterwards, the 27 visits I made in the 12 months period still shows that when in a fit state I am a regular gym visitor. How can vitality simply cancel my membership when they know I have had a serious knee injury and surgery. When I email Vitality they are disinterested!!
