Non-payment after approval of additional meds

My dependent on my medical aid had applied and been granted additional supply for her chronic medication by Doscovery, as she was travelling abroad. We have the approval letter to hand. Among the medication approved for twice the normal amount was one for 200 lancets for the diabetic tests which she does twice daily. On the day of collection, the pharmacy was short of stock and could only supply 150 lancets which would have been enough for my Dependent's stay abroad so I agreed. However, the approval by Discovery did not go through according to the pharmacy computer. One of the pharmacists spent no less than 80 minutes on the phone to Discovery's Chronic Department, and still wasn't given a satisfactory explanation. I therefore paid the co-payment of R198 and was told that my query would be fast-tracked to someone else and I would be getting a confirmation e-mail from Discovery with 48 hrs. I never did, and on querying this it took a full week for me to get a reply: they will not pay the refund as "it was for 200 lancets and you only bought 150". I am still waiting for a logical explanation of this. So I am now out of pocket for the R198. Absolute nonsense, Discovery!
