On the 20 May 2013 I made the unfortunate decision to visit Torga Optical Northgate to get a new pair of glasses, my previous optometrist didn't have a great range and this fancy looking shop looked inviting. Without asking any medical questions they stuck me up against some machine and did a scan in plain sight of the whole mall, once inside the optometrist's office she realised that I wore contact lenses and so back to the front of the shop for the scan again.
After the test I was told that my eyes had deteriorated really badly and that my contact lens and glasses script had changed, I had to pay R60 for a lens sample for the first time in 20 years. The sample that was supplied was expired. I went back to my previous optometrist only to be told that my eyesight had not changed at all. Unfortunately the glasses at Torga were already made, the inner corner of the lens was sticking out and was sent back to grind down, and now I notice that the outer edges are so badly raised that I can only look forward and not sideways. I had to pay in close to R5000 and don't think that I am going to get any joy in having the glasses fixed. My advice, go anywhere else except Torga Optical.
