I saw the optometrist at Torga Optical Eikestad Mall (Stellenbosch) in September/October of 2011 for an eye test and contact lenses. I arranged with Torga Optical to deduct the amount payable from my Edgars (credit) account. I then received a call mid 2012 from them stating that the account has not been settled yet. I then asked them to send me the detailed so that I can settle the account. After that call I've not heard from Torga Optical again until recently when I was contacted by an attorney who made use of a tracking agency and ordered me to settle the account. What confuses me is the following: if my number has never changed since 2003 and I've stayed at the same address 2011 - 2012, why couldn't they just simply reach me to settle the amount outstanding? It was Torga Optical's responsibility to deduct the amount payable from my Edgars account and keep in contact with me regarding it, yet they made almost no effort and handed me over to their attorneys. The amount payable has now increased from R574 to R1136.96, of which half of it is attorney costs.
