Warranty null and void

My husband bought me a Samsung S4 in Malaysia for Xmas. Since receiving it the device constantly freezes and then reboots itself. I was disgusted to learn, after taking it into Samsung in Cape Town, that the warranty card received with the phone was absolutely meaningless. Not only can't they fix it, they would have to replace any faulty parts, but I would have to pay for it. Brand new phone, paid considerable amount for it, and now have to pay again as it is faulty. Pathetic. I had a choice between Iphone and S4, clearly I made the wrong decision. I am completely disenchanted with Samsung and no longer an avid supporter.
