Warranty is a daylight

I bought an Iphone 5 in April last year.By November the power button was not functioning properly. I reported the matter to their servicer provider but they didn't respond. I reported again in 2014 January and the device was collected from me and i was subsequently told that my warranty is void beacuse of a minor crack on the coating on the cover and dents. This is as a result of the material of the phone which is not strong.

I will never buy an apple product again because customers are penalised for the manufacturer's own faults
