SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 BATTERY

I got my s4 6 months ago now my battery is swollen and not lasting a day.
I phoned Vodaworld Galaxy Store they told me Samsung is aware of this problem but i have to send it in to get a new battery.
Why do I need to send it in for a new battery when Samsung is aware of the problem?
