Lightning struck my house and blew my TV, Yamaha amp and modem in Feb 2013.
When I handed my amp in at Sounds Great I asked them to tell Yamaha to issue a letter stating that the cause of damage might be a power surge caused by lightning.
They said Yamaha said they are not prepared to do that.
In the meantime my time period for lodging my insurance claim lapsed so I cannot claim my damages.
After months of me following up with them they issued me with a letter from Yamaha stating that they cannot determine the cause of damage and that if I stated I wanted to claim, they would have issued a letter stating that the damage was possibly caused by lightning.
So Sounds Great in my opinion did not act on my original request.
They are the cause of my option of claiming my damages lapsed.
They decline to fix my Yamaha amp if I do not pay.
I wrote to the owner and he is adamant that they are not liable.
I am sad that we are exposed to doing business with such dishonest companies.
The damage is R 1 000. I cannot believe they risk the institutional damage for such a small amount, not to mention my future business.
Chances are good they will not respond.
