I decided to take the plunge and apply for Wits' Higher Diploma in Computer Science at the end of 2011, just too late to make the application deadline for the 2012 academic year. So in March 2012 I applied for 2013, hoping that this qualification would be worth the wait.
After the initial application deadline in September, I began checking the Self Service webpage regularly for my application status (even now still "under consideration"). Phoned Wits numerous times to be told that the application is under consideration.
Last week I found out that full time classes start 11 Feb (today), but I shouldn't worry, Wits says, because part time students work on a different schedule. I should phone back on Monday (today) for an update.
So I phone today, just to hear that my previous degree is not enough to qualify me for HDipCS and my application is declined. You only tell me now?!?!
I feel like screaming. I wasted one year of my life waiting for Wits where I could have been halfway through another qualification elsewhere. Of course it is now too late to apply anywhere else. Guess I'll have to wait another 6 to 12 months. Thanks for nothing, Wits.
