I started my studies in 2008 and completed it at the end of 2012, but haven't received confirmation of completion of qualification. When I queried this via e-mail (since Unisa doesn't have a call center anymore), I had to wait a month for a response! When they did respond they informed me that my matric exemption (which is supposed to be valid for 5 years) have expired and I have to re-apply before my records can be reviewed. They also gave my 4 telephone numbers for the AME department to contact in this regard. I have been trying all 4 those lines since yesterday noon, the lines are either engaged or they just don't answer.
Since I live in Bloemfontein I cannot just drive down to their office for assistance, they don't answer their telephones and I cannot afford to wait another month for someone to respond to my e-mail!! I feel like my hands are tied!
Also, I feel that if you have applied for exemption once it should remain valid for the duration of your studies - isn't this just another way of making money having you re-apply before you can graduate!?!?
