New Era Workshops
Not paying contract lecturers

Francois Masekwa, Director Project and Operations for New Era Workshops (Pty) Ltd, contracted me to do a course on his company's behalf in Cape Town the second last week of July 2013. He paid a small deposit, and promised in writing to pay the balance owed on the first day. He phoned on the evening of the second day promising payment within 10 minutes of his call. Francois is fully aware that I do not work on credit, but started this workshop on good faith of his deposit and written and verbal promises. I was again promised my payment the last day of the workshop. To date, I have received no payment. I follow up with his office almost every day as he does not answer my calls or sms's. I have proof that the work was done, and well done at that. I also know that the client paid him a while back already. It is this business practise that gives South African training companies such a bad reputation internationally. Legally, directors have fiduciary duties to perform. In my opinion, everyone needs to stay clear of doing any sort of business with New Era Workshops until they have pulled up their business socks. Make a stand against unsavoury business practise.
